PE
In PE we will be finishing up soccer and foot skills next week. Classes have been going great! Our next unit will be Flag Football and the 8th grade will compete in the pass, punt, and kick competition. Please remind students to layer up, have sneakers and water bottles.
STEM
Students will be taking part in a building challenge, where they must work with their table groups to design a foot orthosis; A medical device used to support an injury or help with movement. Students will learn and practice the different steps of the design cycle, as well as understand how designers go about understanding their client's needs.
Music

Health
Sixth graders are exploring the dimensions of health, seventh graders are learning about diversity and empathy, and eighth graders are setting a personal health goal to track over the next month.
Art
6th 7th and 8th grade students are finishing up their portfolios
STEM
Students will be exploring a CAD software called Tinkercad that we will use throughout the year. Students will be learning how it functions and getting to create a design of their own. They will also briefly be introduced to the schools 3D printing resources at our TLC, if they were not introduced in the week previously.
Music
Chorus Club will meet on Tuesdays each week and we start this Tuesday September 22nd!
Art
6th grade is working on their graffiti art portfolios, 7th grade is working on one point perspective and 8th graders are working on their elements of art portfolios.
Health
We had a great week in Health! Sixth grade explored the dimensions of health, seventh grade focused on empathy and acceptance, and eighth grade began goal setting. We also enjoyed mindful walks this week!
PE
I In class we will continue focusing on soccer and other footwork skills! Please remember to have layers as the weather gets cooler and sneakers for class.
STEM
Students will be finishing up testing their bridges (Introductory building activity) and briefly exploring a CAD software that we will use throughout the year. Students will get a preface as to what the software is capable of and see how we use it in conjunction with our school's TLC.
Music
I've enjoyed seeing the students back this week! Band students please remember to have instruments and materials for class next week!
Health
This week in Health, students reviewed our community service expectations and received the necessary forms. Community service is due by June. We also began our weekly Health journals and started our first lessons! If you don’t have one already, please bring in a notebook and folder from home next week for Health class.
Art
6th 7th and 8th: Students are beginning to work on their new portfolios
PE
It has been great to see all the kids! In class we have been going over procedures and expectations! Activity wise students have been creating their own game stations! Next week we will begin focusing on soccer and skills!
STEM
Students in STEM this 3rd week will be completing their bridge designs for their introductory building challenge. Students are introduced to principals such as criteria and constraints and must build their bridge with available materials to meet said constraints. Students then will weight test the bridges to see first hand what design techniques helped them succeed.
Music
It has been great seeing all the students back this week! Band students-remember to have your instrument and supplies for class next week!
Health
This week in Health, students got to know their new teacher, Ms. Woods, as we discussed our Health class norms, routines, and expectations. Next week, we’ll begin our Health journals, so please bring a folder from home if you have one!
Art
Students have gotten their syllabi and have been participating in team-building activities. They will be starting to make their portfolios soon
STEM
It was great to see students for the first time in our brand new STEM class. This year students will be primarily focusing on engineering and technology. Students this week went over the syllabus and resources. Next week will be working on an introductory activity, where they will test their design and teamwork skills in a bridge design competition.
