Hello LMS Families!

We had an exciting week this week!  The Bionic Project spent the day Monday with our 8th graders to teach about adaptive disabilities and have some fun playing soccer with the kids, the high school stopped by on Wednesday to talk to the 8th graders about classes at LHS, and we finish the week with the 6th Grade Kids Night Out tonight--add a delayed start this morning and we have had a lot going on!

Next week should settle into a nice rhythm with warmer weather and a typical schedule.  I'm assuming we had the last blast of winter this week so I'll set a date for 8th grade graduation and let you all know some time next week.

We had a nice week returning from February break, and although we were only in school for a partial week, the kids and staff did a great job getting back into the routine of teaching and learning.

Hello LMS Families,

We had quite a week at the middle school and the week before break never lacks for excitement.  The basketball season finished Thursday, our students performed very well at the town-wide band concert Wednesday, and of course the joy of celebrating a Super Bowl win on Monday (well, it was joyous for one person).  We'll be wrapping up our second term and preparing for MCAS before we know it, so in the mean time, I hope you all have a wonderfully relaxing vacation week.

Hello LMS Families!

We had a fun end to the week with a special guest speaker spending the day with our 6th grade students, and a great field trip to Gillette Stadium with our 8th graders--even though I had to see video of the Malcom Butler interception in the 2015 Super Bowl SO MANY TIMES.

The entire school pulled quite a prank on me this morning with the walls of the office (and in MY office) covered in Patriots artwork colored by students and staff in advisory classes. The most impressive part was that not a single student gave away the secret!  Kudos to all those involved, but I will be celebrating obnoxiously Monday morning after the Seahawks win the Super Bowl.

Hello LMS Families!

Our lost-and-found continues to grow despite the frigid temperatures, but I'm hoping a few items went home today with the sub-zero wind chill.  I'm always amazed how middle schoolers will choose shorts and a t-shirt in the coldest of weather--fashion over function, right?

We finished our winter MAP tests this week and most everyone who needed to make up a session did so today.  Thank you parents for encouraging your students to do their best work.

We have an early release day on Wednesday and the 8th grade trip to Gillette on Friday (and I will be wearing my Seahawks gear, of course).

We had a nice week and the middle school, and I hope the long weekend is nice for you as well.  As a Seattle Seahawks fan I can't root for the Patriots, but I do hope they see each other again in the Super Bowl (with a much different result!).

We're down to the final few days of 2025 and we hope to end it on a high note.  The LMS student council hosted our Golden Tiger Awards this afternoon and the energy was great!  We had nine winners, all nominated by their peers, and even a new award--the Golden Tiger Teacher Award.  Congratulations to all our winners and thank you for modeling the kindness, positivity and responsibility that we hope to see in all of our students.

Trimester One reports cards will be published in Aspen this afternoon.  Next week is a full week with no scheduled interruptions, and I hope you all have a great weekend!

Hello LMS Families,

Spirit Week at LMS was quite a success, and the creativity for "Anything But A Backpack" was quite impressive--we had a shopping cart, traffic barrier, wheelbarrow, and dozens of baby strollers!

We have a short week next week, capped off by our annual Turkey Olympics & Turkey Trot.  It's the best day of the year at LMS and we're looking forward to the excitement!  We usually have a large number of students dismissed early on that day, but since everyone is either in the gym or taking a walk outside, finding them can be difficult--we should be done with everything by 11am if it's possible to wait a bit.

Important Information Regarding SNAP Food-Assistance Benefits

Littleton Public Schools would like to share important information about upcoming changes and uncertainties regarding the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) food assistance benefits, which may affect some of our students’ families. We believe it is important that all families are aware of these developments and the supports available. Federal changes taking effect November 1, 2025, may alter eligibility and benefit amounts for SNAP. Ongoing federal budget decisions and government shutdown may delay or suspend SNAP benefit payments to families in Massachusetts.

The Commonwealth’s Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) is continuing to process applications and recertifications, but families should be aware that changes in eligibility or delays in funding could impact when benefits are issued.

Hello LMS Families!

We've had fun week at school, from decorating pumpkins to the field trip to Nashoba Tech, and it was great to see students and staff enjoying the days (a Monday holiday certainly helps).  We have another holiday on Monday so Happy Diwali to those who celebrate!

LMS Drama is hosting the annual 7th & 8th Grade Halloween Dance next Friday from 6-8pm, and we're excited to see all the great costumes!  I will send a note next week about costumes at school but it's basically no masks, no weapons, no inflatables.

It's hard to believe, but this was only our second week of the school year without a major disruption to the schedule.  We're in teh groove of the year and ready for the good work ahead.  There is no school Monday.

Hello LMS Families!

The calendar has turned to fall, and while the temperatures haven't quite followed, that is sure to change next week.  Our lost-and-found is already gaining items so be sure to ask your students to check the cafeteria if they lose their coats and sweatshirts (and water bottles, lunch bags, etc.)

We will have MAP test make-ups on Tuesday and Wednesday for those who missed the tests earlier this week.  

Next Friday is also our first 6th Grade "Kids Night Out" from 6-8pm.  The cost is $5 and we'll have games, concessions, music, and a bouncy obstacle course!  Hopefully the release of the upcoming Taylor Swift movie doesn't keep too many students away.  😄

Hello LMS Families!

This was our first full week of school, and I have to say it was quite a success.  Everyone seems to be getting sick right now so maybe that had something to do with it?  😆

We have our first MAP tests of the year on Monday and Wednesday from 8:15-9:45am, and we'll schedule time for make-ups the following week if needed.  Wednesday is also an early release day (11:20am).

The nice weather means more students out-and-about (especially on early release days), so I'm hoping you can take a moment to speak to your children about bicycle safety.  We don't want students darting through crosswalks and down streets without regard for traffic--there's a lot of kids on those days as well as a lot of daytime traffic.

Hello LMS Families!

As we build toward our first full week of the year, we continue to see excited students with great attitudes about being back to school.  Our teachers are finding a rhythm in their classes and the kids are settling into good routines.

Most of our students have responded very well to the expectations for cell phone use, and I whole-heartedly thank you for your support at home to reinforce our policy.  Please continue to remain vigillant and we will do the same--it's been so much better for the kids!

Here's a look at the week ahead:

• Back-To-School Night is Monday from 6-8m and I sent a brief notification of the process a few minutes ago, but please let me know if you have any questions.

• We have an early day on Wednesday with students dismissed at 11:20am.  Our staff immediately go to professional development meetings so kids will not be allowed to remain in the building unsupervised.

• Picture Day is Thursday and your students were given envelopes to take home with more information.  We have plenty of extras if they were lost, just let me know.  You can also see the "LMS At Large" tab for more information.

Hello LMS Families!

What an amazing start to the school year!  This has been, without question, the best beginning I've experienced in my nine years as an administrator.  The kids have been wonderful, the staff is excited, everything seems to be clicking?  (Knock on wood)

Picture Day is Thursday, September 11, and we will send home more information next week.  We also have an early release day on the 10th so the next couple of weeks will be choppy.  We'll also have more information on our back-to-school night, kids night out, and other events over the next couple weeks.

We had a wonderful promotion ceremony for our 8th graders this evening and we're so excited for them to begin the next chapter of their school lives!  Thank you to our staff for their hard work, PTA for their support, and to all of you for raising such an incredible community of students!  Our upcoming 7th and 8th graders will have big shoes to fill.

Monday is our field day which will include a BBQ from our cafeteria staff, games and stations run by NJHS and Student Council, locker clean-out and saying goodbye for the summer.  We will surely have a lot of items in the lost and found so I will send a photo for items to be claimed before they are donated at the end of next week.

I'll reach out with information for the 25-26 school year in mid-August, so until then, I hope you have an incredible summer!

Hello LMS Families,

We're in the final days of the school and everything is happening at an incredible pace!  We had the 8th grade Civis Project showcase in Worcester on Monday, the 6th Country Expo, the 7th grade field trip to Boda Borg, the 8th grade Band trip to Six Flags and a celebration by the USDA for our cafeteria's nutritious lunch program on Thursday, our Golden Tiger Awards assembly this afternoon and the 7th/8th dance tonight--whew!

Next week will also be busy with the 8th grade field trip to New Hampshire on Wednesday, the 6th grade field trip to Canobie Lake on Thursday, and the 8th grade promotion ceremony Friday evening at 5pm.  Lots of excitement in and out of our building!!

Hello LMS Families!

The short week was certainly busy, and I can finally say we're done with MCAS!  Done with MAP testing!  And as many of you have seen, there's no more "Let's Have Another Great Week!" on the electric street sign--yay!!  The wires were cut during all of the construction last year, and that was the last message programmed in the system so I couldn't change it.  We have a new sign and it looks good!

Moving to next week, select 8th graders will be away for the Civic Project on Monday, 7th grade has a class trip to Bodaborg on Thursday, and the 6th grade has Country Expo that morning as well.

Hello LMS Families!

We ended the week with a flurry (not a bad weather pun).  Our Chorus Club and Band students were magnificent at Wednesday's Spring Concert, Science Fair for 6-8 grades last night, and the Senior Parade this morning.  Whew!

Grade 8 will take the Civics MCAS next week, and then we're done with testing!

I'll send an email next week with promotion information, music class selections, and a reminder to choose a language class for current 6th graders.  But for now, enjoy the long weekend!

For two-thirds of the school, MCAS is done!  Everyone was clearly over the tests, the crazy schedules, and the disrupted routine.  I think we are all looking forward to a "normal" week next week: we have the spring Band concert on Wednesday night and an early release on Friday.

Hello LMS Families,

I hope your students enjoyed the early release day today, they were very excited to be done early on a Friday.  We spoke with students yesterday in advisory about the importance of bicycle safety, wearing a helmet, looking both ways, and other safety measures now that the weather is nice and they will be on the roads more.  The same will be true at pick-up after school--more students will be walking home or riding their bikes, so please pay extra attention as you leave the parking area.

Thank you SO MUCH to our wonderful PTA today for the Moe's Southwest Grill buffet for Teacher Appreciation week, it was a big hit!  They had table cloths and centerpieces, it was a nice break from the usual cafeteria or teacher room routine.

MAP testing in ELA will take place Monday morning, and if your child is late or absent, we will work out a time for a make-up later in the week.

It's a beautiful day today, I hope get to enjoy a bit of sunshine before the rain this weekend.  Along with the spring, MCAS season begins next week with the ELA exams on Wednesday (4/9) and Thursday (4/10).  Students absent on those days will have opportunities to make up the test before the start of April vacation.  I will also be sending an email with expectations for students regarding snacks and technology on Monday.

This weekend we "spring forward" into the worst day of the year, daylight saving time!  It takes me days to get my body clock (and the clocks at home) set to the new time, and I'm sure we'll have quite a few sleepyheads Monday morning.

I didn't grow up in Massachusetts and maybe I'm wrong, but when did February become the unofficial start of winter?  It looks like there's a lot of snow this weekend and next week, so I guess we'll see how it impacts the next few school days.  February break begins at the end of next week as well, and the mad scramble by students and staff to get everything done is underway!

Congratulations to Ms. Sheldon and the entire LMS band program, the All-Town concert on Wednesday was fantastic!

A short week and bitterly cold temperatures made for a strange (but good) week at LMS, and we are certainly looking forward to warmer temperatures to let the kids outside to play!

Our first full week of the new year is in the books and it feels good to back in the school routine.  Winter sports have started and the drama production of "Newsies" is getting ready for Opening Night soon.  Frigid temperatures kept the kids indoors during our regular outside time after lunch, so if it gets to the mid-30's next week, we can open the doors and let them shake their sillies out.

We had a wild week at the middle school, ending with an assembly for students to celebrate their classmates nominating them for the Golden Tiger Award!  It's a new opportunity for students to recognize the kindness, positivity, and responsibility in each other, and if it all goes the way I suspect, to change the culture of how students talk to and about each other.  We had five winners today, so congratulations to Hanna Abbinanti (6), Leo Arcadipane (7), Paige Horton (8), Phoebe Auston (8) and Lizzie Boyer (8)!!

We have a full week next week with a 7th grade field trip on Wednesday, followed by December break the week after.

Hello LMS Families!

We had a good week, though the building had a strange vibe following a post-halloween sugar rush, a time change, day off on Tuesday, and a day off for Veteran's Day on Monday.  We'll be back at it again on Tuesday and ready for the push to Thanksgiving.

In the meantime, I would like to acknowledge the veterans in our community and the sacrifices they made to keep our nation free.  Thank you!

Our educational needs for our Shaker Lane School (PreK-2) have significantly changed since it was built. We are exploring the possibilities for a reimagined Shaker Lane School, designed to better align with 21st-century learning with the necessary space for our current and future programming needs. The Massachusetts School Building Authority is currently reviewing three possible scenarios for the Shaker Lane School; addition/renovation, a new building built on the lower field, or a new building built on the upper field. The Shaker Lane Building Committee (SLBC) has been actively sharing details with the public. There was a public update/listening session on October 16, a public information session on October 23, and a ten-minute presentation at Town Meeting on October 29. Town officials attended a walkthrough of the existing school on October 22, and viewed first-hand how space constraints are creating challenges for staff as they continue to put the needs of students first. 

Additional site visits for the community have been scheduled below that will consist of a tour of Shaker Lane and Q&A/Informational session. Please sign up here to attend one of the tours listed below.

During conferences next Friday, November 15th, Shaker Lane will also be offering two scaled-back tours at 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. These tours will consist of hallway and other non-classroom locations to allow for conferences to take place as intended.

Hello LMS Families!

What a great week at the middle school!  Our 3rd annual LMS Pumpkin Decorating Contest concluded today with the advisories of Ms. Gresco, Mr. Gillette and Ms. Pagington taking the top awards (see a few photos below).  The kids and staff did amazing work, and it has become a great LMS tradition.  Students also dressed up appropriately with no masks or props, thank you for your support!

There is no school tomorrow to celebrate Diwali, and don't forget to set your clocks back Saturday night.  There is also no school on Tuesday due to election voting.

Hello LMS Families!

We're getting ready for the Grade 7 & 8 Halloween Dance to cap a busy week at the middle school--last week's Grade 6 Kids Night Out was a blast!

I will send an email later regarding Halloweed at LMS, kids wearing their costumes, and a few guidelines to remember as they prepare for fun at school!  We don't have school next Friday in observance of Diwali.

Our 6th Grade Kids Night Out has started, and I can hear the kids screaming as they run by my office--they're having a blast!  The short week was busy, and we're ready for another great week up next!  Here's a quick look:

The Shaker Lane Building Committee (SLBC) has been working on phase two of the project (Feasibility Study) throughout the summer. The Feasibility Study has been completed and submitted to the Massachusetts Building Authority, and MSBA is currently reviewing this document. The feasibility study includes three possible scenarios for the current Shaker Lane School: addition/renovation, a new building built on the upper field, or a new building built on the lower field. The SLBC has been working with our architectural firm, Studio G, to look at various school designs for the three scenarios. The SLBC will hold two upcoming public meetings to update the community on our progress with the Shaker Lane project: Wednesday, October 16th, and Wednesday, October 23rd. Both meetings will be hybrid at the Littleton Police Station Community Room and begin at 7:00 pm. We recently sent out a postcard to all residents, providing them access to our SLBC website to learn more about the project and submit any questions our community may have. You can also access the SLBC website at the Shaker Lane Building Project. 

Our educational needs for our Shaker Lane prek-2 school have significantly changed since it was built. We are looking forward to a reimagined Shaker Lane School, designed to better align with 21st-century learning and provide the necessary space for our current and future programming needs, resulting in an exciting and vibrant learning community for our youngest learners.

Hello LMS Families!

It's hard to believe we're already into October, and with it comes a lot of excitement with our upcoming activities.  Here's a few to put on your calendar:

• We will have our clubs & activities catalogue ready for next week.  There is a $50 activities fee that covers all clubs for the entire year.

• Wednesday, October 16, 8:30am: Safety Drill (more information to come)

• Friday, October 18: Grade 6 Kinds Night Out, 6-8pm

• Friday, October 25: Grade 7/8 Dance, 5:30-7:30

Hello LMS Families!

We had a great week at school this week, and it will soon be sweater weather.  On that note, we have quite a few swetshirts (and water bottles) in our lost and found.  If your child is missing something warm to wear, it might be in our cafeteria.

We have scheduled our first Grade 6 "Kids Night Out" for Friday, October 18.  More details to follow.

We had our first full week this week, and judging by the number of sick students and staff, this weekend couldn't come soon enough.  We have Math MAP testing on Wednesday (early release day) but otherwise it's a pretty routine week ahead.  I hope you all have a great weekend!

Our first (almost) full week is in the books and we continue to gain momentum.  Picture day went well, and the warming temperatures haven't been an issue in classrooms.  Next Wednesday is the first MAP test of the year and I know the kids will be great.  I hope you all have a great weekend, and GO SEAHAWKS!!

Hello LMS Families!

The first couple of weeks are often brutal with high temperatures and muggy humidity, but we've had a great run of weather and it's clearly reflected in the bright attitudes of our students and staff.  We had a great week and it seems most everyone is in the school routine!

Next week is quite busy:

• LMS Family Back-to-School Night is Monday from 6-8pm

• Early release day on Wednesday

• Picture Day on Thursday

Hello LMS Families!

Our summer break was longer than last year, and it was easy to see that everyone returned refreshed.  We had a very good week at the middle school, and most everything seemed happen as planned--yay!
