A little about me:
My name is Jessica Dussi and I am SO excited to be your child's 1st grade teacher! I cannot wait to get to know each and every one of my incredible students, but for now, I want to share a little bit about myself!
I recently moved to Medford MA, and lived in Billerica, MA with my amazing family previously. I graduated from Bridgewater State University with my bachelors degree and license in Early Childhood Education, while I'm currently finishing up my masters degree in Special Education. I started my official teaching career as a 1st grade teacher at Guilmette Elementary School in Lawrence, MA. This will be my second year at Shaker Lane and I cannot wait to continue to grow and learn at such an amazing school! 1st grade has a special place in my heart.
I am a huge animal lover. As you can see from my pictures above, I have some very special animal friends. Olive is my dachsund pup, who loves sunbathing, swimming and treats almost as much as I do! I also recently adopted two kittens, Jack (black kitten) and Tigger (Orange Kitten), who love napping, playing and trying to eat the dinner off of my plate.
Some other hobbies of mine include long outdoor walks, hiking, reading, planting and trying new foods! One thing you'll know about me right off the bat by looking at my classroom decor is I love cacti and succulents.
1st grade:
1st grade is such a fun time where teachers and families get to watch children grow and flourish into the amazing learners they are! During first grade students will be learning exciting new content, developing new skills, and will be getting accustomed to new transitions, routines and expectations. Most importantly, 1st graders will be developing new relationships with their peers, classmates and teacher! In this classroom, we are a community, a family and I will always promote kindness, respect and acceptance. Every child will be celebrated for their successes (big or small), their uniqueness and will be loved!
Your child's success and happiness is my #1 priority! I cannot wait to develop relationships and communication outlets with families that will benefit both students, family and teacher. It's going to be a year filled with new and different experiences and so much fun!
Communication:
Communication is extremely important to me. Having the relationship between a parent and teacher present is key in helping students grow and thrive in the transition between school and home, or vice versa. I will always make it a priority to communicate with you consistently and frequently about your child, important things to note, questions or comments, and what is going on in our classroom! Please reach out to me whenever you have a question, comment or concern and I'd be happy to talk and help!
I am also available by e-mail,jdussi@littletonps.org, and by phone at 978-486-3959 ext 111.
I will be using a Home-School Communication folder that should come back and forth to school each day. Please check this folder and empty it each night and please send any important information you’d like to share with me in that folder.
Last but not least, I will be using the APP Remind to communicate easily through phone/texting. Please follow the directions below to download “Remind:”
1. Download the app “Remind” on your cell phone or computer.
2. Once downloaded, type in the class code, @27efc2a
3. You will then see the class named, Room 111 (2021-2022)
4. Request to join the class and I will approve you to join!
Let's make this year one of the best ones yet! I can't wait to meet everyone!
Sincerely,
Jessica Dussi
