My name is Ann Brazinski. I am very excited to be your child's first grade teacher this year and embarking on this wonderful learning journey together! I will be entering my fifth year at Shaker Lane and my fourth year in first grade. I started at Shaker Lane as the Unified Arts Teacher and taught Art, Music and PE to grades K-2 that year. Before coming to Shaker Lane, I taught Kindergarten in Acton and was a Kindergarten TA in Westford prior to that. I also taught three years of preschool in MD before moving to MA over 10 years ago. I earned my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Merrimack College and I maintain Professional MA Teacher Licenses in both Early Childhood and Elementary Education. I completed my student teaching in 3rd grade, so I have been so lucky to teach at both ends of this magical early childhood age group. Finally, prior to becoming a teacher, I had an 11 year career as a biologist/Natural Resources Manager with the National Park Service. I earned my BS in Biology from Syracuse University and an MS in Biology from George Mason University. I bring a unique background of experiences to the classroom and I feel very fortunate to have been blessed with two careers that I have so loved and enjoyed.
I live in Westford, MA and have been happily married to Scott Brazinski for 28 years. We have two teenage children- Emma (20, a junior at that University of Vermont) and Josh (18, a freshman at Quinnipiac University in CT). I enjoy hiking, biking (road, mountain and mu\y Peloton!), paddle boarding, knitting, reading, cooking and spending time with family and friends. I remember so clearly when both of my children were in first grade. It really seems like yesterday! I hope you enjoy this journey with your child(ren) as much as I have with mine! It seems to happen in a blink of an eye!
First grade is a time of amazing growth as your child acquires new skills and makes important transitions. This year your child will become a reader, an author and a mathematician! It is extremely important to be mindful that each child will progress at his/her own pace and acquire new skills when s/he is developmentally ready. In our classroom, we will build on small successes with the goals of creating a solid foundation for future growth, maintaining each child’s self esteem, and hopefully establishing a love for learning.
I look forward to working together to set your child up for success this year, so let’s stay in touch. Perhaps the best way to reach me is by email at abrazinski@littletonps.org or call the office phone at 978-486-3959. Other ways we will keep in touch this year:
Home-School communication folder. This plastic coated two pocket folder will be brought to and from school each day in your child's backpack. Please check this folder and empty it each night and please send any important information you’d like to share with me in that folder.
I will be using the Remind app for quick individual and group text messages. I hope you will join this app.
I will send weekly email updates to share what we are doing in the classroom.
Thank you for sharing your child with me this year and thank you for all you do to support your child at home! Looking forward to a great year!
With gratitude,
Mrs. Ann Brazinski
