The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) includes significant requirements for protecting individual privacy of health information. All students should complete the program-required HIPAA training prior to orientation through a program-approved vendor prior to orientation. Subsequent HIPAA training will occur in the Total Clinical Placement Systems (TCPS) General Orientation modules prior to the initiation of the SCPE phase of the program. All documentation must be submitted to myRecordTracker upon completion of the modules.
Students will be required to complete training regarding exposure to bloodborne pathogens (BBP) and other potentially infectious materials as outlined by both the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. Program-required BBP training should be completed prior to orientation through a program-approved vendor prior to orientation. Subsequent (BBP) training will occur in the Total Clinical Placement Systems (TCPS) General Orientation modules prior to the initiation of the SCPE phase of the program. All documentation must be submitted to myRecordTracker upon completion of the modules.
Students will complete Basic Life Support training, Advanced Cardiac Life Support training, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support training during the didactic phase of the program.
All students will complete the Total Clinical Placement Systems (TCPS) General Orientation module prior to beginning supervised clinical practice experiences (SCPE). The TCPS General Orientation will cover emergency preparedness, infection control & blood-borne pathogens, caring for diverse populations, safety in the healthcare environment, and confidentiality/compliance.
Depending on site-specific requirements of clinical placements, students may be required to completed additional educational modules or training as applicable and required by each clinical site.
