Standard

All enrolled physician assistant (PA) students must be clearly identified in both simulated and actual clinical environments to distinguish them from other health professions students and practitioners.

Associated ARC-PA Standard (A3.04): The program publishes, makes readily available, and consistently applies a standard requiring PA students to be clearly identified in the clinical setting to distinguish them from other health professions students and practitioners.

Provisions

1. Lab Coat Specifications: Wear the approved long-sleeved white lab coat when directed by the program. Ensure the official program student patch is affixed to the sleeve and your full name and "PA-S" credentials are embroidered directly on the coat.

2. University Identification: Wear your university picture ID at all times while participating in both simulated and actual clinical environments.

3. Site-Specific Credentials: Obtain, wear, and comply with all facility-specific identification mandates, including site-issued picture IDs or badges, as instructed during site-specific rotation onboarding.

4. Verbal Identification: Verbally communicate your role and introduce yourself exclusively as a "physician assistant student" in all clinical and professional interactions.

5. Prohibited Titles and Credentials: Do not identify as a graduate physician assistant, physician, medical student, resident, or any other medical professional. Do not display or utilize any previously earned academic or professional titles (e.g., RD, ATC, RN, or EMT) while enrolled in the program.

Enforcement

Failure to adhere to mandatory identification standards results in immediate removal from the clinical setting and potential referral to the Progression & Accountability Council for professional misconduct.
