Standard

All clinical-phase Physician Assistant students who require additional time to complete clinical-phase or graduation requirements due to an approved Leave of Absence, deceleration, or required remediation will remain enrolled in delayed graduate status and will remain members of their original matriculating cohort, provided all program requirements are completed within the timeframe established by program standards.

• Associated ARC-PA Definition: Student attrition: the permanent loss of a matriculated student from a cohort in a PA program. A student who, by program-defined written policy, remains a member of their original cohort but has a delay in graduation date is a delayed graduate and NOT an attrition (and does not go in the graduation rate/attrition table as an attrited student).

Provisions

1. Delayed Graduate Status / Original Cohort Retention: A clinical-phase student who completes all remaining clinical and program requirements on or before the official summer degree conferral date of the calendar year following the cohort’s expected graduation year will remain a member of the student’s original matriculating cohort for accreditation, programmatic, and institutional reporting purposes.

2. Attrition from Original Cohort: A clinical-phase student who does not complete all remaining clinical and program requirements on or before the official summer degree conferral date of the calendar year following the cohort’s expected graduation year will no longer be classified as a delayed graduate within the original cohort and will be recorded as attrition from that original cohort for accreditation and programmatic reporting purposes, in accordance with ARC-PA definitions and institutional policy.

3. Subsequent Completion: If such a student later completes all degree requirements, the program will classify and report that completion in accordance with institutional graduation procedures and applicable accreditation reporting requirements.
