In 2018 International Studies partnered with LBCC's Honor Society for a study abroad program in the UK. Students earned credits in History for research projects centered around Emigration. Individual paper topics explored the Irish diaspora, the Syrian Refugee Crisis, Climate Refugees, and others. In addition each student undertook a volunteer project in Oregon working with immigrant communities. And we spent a day in Edinburgh meeting with recent immigrants from a variety of backgrounds who were taking steps to integrate into their new homeland.
Travels included London, Edinburgh and Dublin for a total of about three weeks. We visited numerous museums, historic sites and cultural centers, churches, capitols, and much more.
