In 2015 LBCC hosted the 17th Symposium on Peace, Justice and Human Rights. Around a dozen nationalities were present along with a number of international faculty. LBCC graduate, and 2013 International Studies participant, Terra Nelson returned to lead a seminar herself. She built on Scott's theme of Environmental Justice from previous years and directed student research into the impacts of climate change on indigenous peoples. Oregon State University climate change expert Gregg Walker graciously also ran a workshop for the group on climate treaty negotiations. Outside of the classroom, students visited the Oregon Coast including the aquarium. They were treated to a Civil War reenactment at Willamette Mission State Park, and our own Robert Harrison delivered a lecture on the History of baseball before we all attended a Corvallis Knights game. Many other members of the LBCC community contributed their time and effort to the endeavor as well including President Greg and Rita Haman who hosted a delightful dinner party for the entire delegation.
