Backwards design involves the teacher having a clear understanding of their students and of the curriculum that needs to be covered. The teacher then thinks about how their students can demonstrate the understanding and application of the skills in the curriculum. What might some possible activities be to help students achieve this? What supports will they need?
If you have a clear idea of where students need to be at the end of your unit, lesson or assignment it can be easier to plan your teaching, support and resources backward from there.

Google Classroom and D2L Brightspace allow you to organize units, lessons and assignments in a way where students can see the steps, expectations and success criteria. This allows them to see the end goal early on in the learning process.
