School to Community Services (SCS)

The School to Community Services (SCS) programs housed in Limestone District School Board (LDSB) secondary schools provide students with many opportunities to develop skills that will provide them with a solid foundation for a successful life beyond school. Students might work towards a secondary school Certificate of Accomplishment (COA), a 14 credit Ontario Secondary School Certificate (OSSC), or a 30 credit Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). In addition to credit-garnering courses, many students will work on K-Code courses which are alternative courses that focus on developing important life skills that will be necessary to navigate life to the best of their ability!

Supportive Schools

Staff will co-plan with students and families/caregivers to ensure that timetables and IEPs take into account student's expressed interests, strengths, and needs. Students may work towards achieving credits, explore auditing a course that is of interest, focus on social skills and opportunities to connect with peers, or concentrate on K-code alternative courses and dig deeply into life skills.

Work Experience

In-school jobs are a part of programming for many students who receive School to Community Services. The coffee cart is a rich way for students to gain real life work experience and practice social skills and this is an entrepreneurial venture that exists in many of our schools!

Community Life

Community trips can be an excellent way for students to get comfortable in settings they may wish to explore further when they move on from their secondary school experience. We are lucky to have adventurous students and staff who love to take advantage of what our area has to offer!
