SotB Corner

Students on the Beamline (SotB) is an authentic and immersive science research experience for high school students. It is unique in that the students are the scientists 'driving' their own research – using Canada’s only synchrotron! You can see examples of projects in our SotB database below.

SotB Projects Database

We are sharing our complete SotB project summaries through Airtable, which is a handy spreadsheet application that acts like a database! In this Airtable, we list our SotB projects and have grouped them in school years the student groups participated in. For some of these groups though, they may have been working on their project the year before their beamtime.

With this table, you will find the name of the school/community that has participated in the first column (alphabetized) and the other columns helping describe the project of that school group. Click on the expand arrow in each cell (blue arrows in the right corner) or expand the whole entry, known as a record, by clicking the blue arrows on the far left, right after the number. Also provided are links to the SotB Posters when a group participated and any recorded seminars (starting in 2018).

To search the database, click on the magnifying icon in the top right-hand corner and enter some keywords or a science area. Looking for a summary of your own school? Investigating ideas for a research project? You can also use the filter feature. If you cannot find what you are looking for, please reach out to us.
