ABOUT LICET
LICET is born out of global vision of Loyola College Society (LCS ) and ICAM group. The core philosophy of ICAM and LCS is to facilitate conducive atmosphere in which men and women form themselves into COMPETENT, CREATIVE, COMMITTED, COMPASSIONATE and SOCIALY RESPONSIBLE professionals. These four C's form the commonness of our partnership. Loyola College and ICAM, both guided by the Jesuit methodology of education, have linked a joint venture of founding an engineering college which would be a unique model not only in forming engineers with social responsibility but also serving as a melting pot of Indian and French cultures preparing Indian students to serve in European industries and European students to work in Indian industries. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Loyola College Society (LCS) and the ICAM group in Lille, France in April 2009.
ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Mechanical Department was started in the year 2010 with a mere students strength of 60 and 6 years past the current strength stands at 540, along with highly qualified , experienced and dedicated teaching and non-teaching faculties, some of whom have more than 30 years of experience. We have 1 Post Doc, 4 doctorates (Professors) , an Associate Professors to guide the students in project modeling and presentation. We have state of art facilities for all labs. We are one among few colleges which have Automation Lab to train the students in the most advanced automation techniques. The students go beyond the Anna University syllabus and do System discovery, System analysis (innovative Programe) in the I year and II year respectively.
To make our students Industry ready in multidisciplinary technology, we have the students chapter of Professional Societies like ASHRAE(American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, Air-conditioning Engineers), ISHRAE(Indian Society of Heating,Refrigerating , Air-conditioning Engineers), SAE(Society of Automotive Engineers),ISTE (Indian Society for Technical Education) and SPE(Society Of Petroleum Engineers). Students from 4th semester visit France (ICAM-UNIVERSITY) and participate in Summer Program. Few students during their 6th semester vacation have visited Comilas University is Spain and accomplished projects on IoT and study on orthopedic joints.
A team of students have participated SAE BAJA 2016 edition held at Pithampur. Another team participated in Go-Kart competition at LPU Punjab. Keeping in view of the Global perspective, Students learn French language in addition to soft skill training, Interview techniques, Leadership grooming, and what not. In short, it is a soul satisfying experience to be a member of the Mechanical department of LICET.
ABOUT SYMPOSIUM
Our symposium "TORQ2k17" challenges the young vibrant minds to focus and concentrate on chosen activities and exhibit them in a fluid, innovative and creative way. Last year around 600 students participated and exhibited their skills. It provides a Platform for the emerging technocrats to bring out their hidden talents in events like Paper Presentation, Machinist, Les Quizerables, MOTO RC , Design Mindz etc. This symposium will pave the way for our budding engineers to transform their dreams in to reality and to build a strong INDIA.
