Developmentally Appropriate Practice
DAP is a whole child approach to learning. Children will ignite a love of learning through play, exploration, and inquiry.
PreK will build the foundation for project based learning by promoting mastery of essential skills, connection to the school community, and confidence to pursue what inspires them through their school journey.
Social and Emotional Learning
SEL teaches children how to identify emotions and provides a foundation for navigating complex emotions through childhood and into adulthood. Our approach promotes teamwork, connection, and friendship.
Phonics and Phonemic Awareness
Pre-K children will explore letter names and sounds, beginning to put them together into words. Children will explore literacy through songs, movement, art, science, math and beyond!
Prewriting and Fine Motor Exploration
Written expression begins with confidence and foundational skills. Children will build prewriting skills and muscles through exploration of buttons, zippers, snaps, and of course pencils and crayons!
Reading Center
PreK students will find their love for books through engaging, purposeful, and entertaining printed material. This stage in the development of reading is focused on building an awareness of printed material and the world it unlocks for the human mind!
Writing Center
Written language is used in so many ways. Our students will explore multiple uses for written language through checklists, word building, and maybe even taking an order or two from the chefs in the play kitchen.
Math Center
Math is all around us! Our PreK students will explore number concepts through counting, matching, sorting, graphing, and beginning to conceptualize time through visual schedules and classroom transitions.
Science Center
Science rules! We will conduct a variety of science experiments as a class and have a designated space for independent exploration.
Art Center
The world of a child is best represented through art. Students will have the opportunity to express themselves through open ended creations using paint, tape, glue, and a variety of creative materials.
Sensory Center
PreK students will explore a variety of materials using all five senses. Examples include beans, water beads, shaving cream, sand, and more. If it is messy and fun, we will explore it!
Dramatic Play Center
Children build an understanding of their world through play, imitation, and reenactment of experiences. Our older middle school students will help us build many creative child safe structures in our Innovation Den! We will create airports, fire stations, and requests from the children.
Block Center
This center is the building block of our future. Our students will express ideas and bring to life all kinds of 3 dimensional creations using blocks, tracks, magnets, and more!
Outdoor Education
We believe the world is our classroom. We will spend time outdoors exploring nature and connecting to the community.
Gross Motor
Big muscle movements are vital for body and brain health. Our students will engage in whole body physical activity multiple times a day. We will run, jump, throw, pedal, push, and climb to build these important core muscles.
Family Partnership
We believe you know you child best. We welcome and encourage you to bring us your ideas, your questions, and your hopes and dreams for your child. Please reach out if you'd like to come in and share a book, a craft, or a fun experience with all our students!
