The following are blocks of time that will happen during a student's time at Liberty Launch Academy. Sometimes these blocks will be at the same time each day, and sometimes a student might only attend 3 of these blocks. It all depends on what the students need to maximize their achievement and growth.
There may be times in a child's education where they attend Advisory and then Health and Wellness the rest of the day due to a guest speaker and activity. There may be times when an Interdisciplinary project dominates a student's schedule for two consecutive days. These decisions will be made as a team of teachers during our collaborative times every other Friday when students are not attending school.
Each grade-level band will have these blocks of time; however, the schedule of lower elementary will differ slightly from middle school.
As students grow older, their autonomy will increase and the variability from day-to-day can be present.
Harvard School of education has research on the benefit of outdoor learning.
Liberty Launch Academy will be outside in nature throughout the year. We will prepare students for the weather and grow and learn together.
Students will align their goals and their inner self with the expectations that have been placed on them.
Students will be grouped in grade-level bands to have multi-aged perspectives and examples.
Activities that will happen during Advisory:
Mindfulness
Movement: yoga, stretching, walking
Meditation
Character-building lessons
Announcements for the school
Competitions between other advisory groups
Community Building
Goal-Setting and Reflection
Students with a healthy body have higher academic achievement.
During the Health and Wellness block, students will engage in the following:
Rigorous exercise according to their current ability and mindset
Goal-setting behaviors according to their own progress
Lessons on sleep, nutrition, sex-ed at appropriate ages, stress management, emotional strategies, and more
Sex-Ed will be taught at Liberty Launch Academy. We do not need to follow the state-mandated curriculum. Parents will know beforehand what is being taught and have the option to opt out of these topics. We will teach the biology, responsibility, and safety of sex-ed.
Students will have an opportunity to develop their reading and writing skills.
These skills will have concept lists that will be passed off when the students are able to do them. A variety of methods and resources will be used.
Our main curriculum for this is Fountas and Pinnell
Students will be grouped by grade-level bands with the small exception of those needing a higher or lower band when possible.

When we eat together as a community: the bonds we form are everlasting!
Lunch will be 45 minutes long. For the first 20 minutes of the lunch, all students will be eating. During that time, staff and students will engage in building community, sustaining energy for learning, and building relationships. After the first 20 minutes of lunch, children will engage in a variety of activities and unstructured play.
Students are welcome to bring a sack lunch from home or purchase a hot lunch from our school cafeteria. The food served at the cafeteria is being prepared by a 5-star chef, Adam Hegsted.
A communal lunch has positive impacts inside the classroom, outside of the classroom, and internally for the students both emotionally and physically.
This is the time of the day when students will be faced with challenges. You can see the process on the Challenge-Based Learning page.
Students will be expected to use their knowledge to solve novel problems and also learn new skills along the way.
At this time, teachers will design workshops to present new skills and knowledge that could enhance the solution to the challenge. Ultimately, we want students to have ownership over this solution, which will engage the students more in their journey to mastering the competencies discussed on the Competencies page.

Students need choices, even at an early age. We are giving students a choice for their end of the day. Students can choose from just about anything. The only limit is the number of adults we can get to help.
