  • We are beginning "Prometheus" in class this week. "Prometheus" is an excerpt from Bernard Evslin's book Heroes, Gods, and Monsters  of the Greek Myths that introduces students to the Titan who defied Zeus to give humans fire.

What we're doing:

These are some of the assignments of which you should be aware this week.

  • We are reading important excerpts together so everyone can follow the story.

  • Answering questions and summarizing our ideas in our writing journals.

  • Prometheus raises questions about knowledge, responsibility, and sacrifice—ideas that help us understand what it means to live wisely and use our gifts for the good of others.

  • Continue to discuss life before, during and after the Industrial Revolution. Focus on comparisons between the old and modern world, weighing the advantages and disadvantages of both.

  • Research at home about the impact of industrialization, so that we can have our paper's rough draft ready by this Friday

These are some of the assignments of which you should be aware this week.

  • Discussions in class related to our Big Question for the day (participation)

  • Prepare to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the changes made by industrialization
