When emotions of any type are high, our clarity of understanding the situation is very low. You need time and space to get yourself to a better mindset where you can make the best decision possible. Allowing yourself to breath deeply and focus on your body can get you into that better mindset more quickly than any other activity.
One of the most powerful tools for a student to self regulate in classrooms and stressful social situations are fidgets. The school counseling team provides the "Bike Chain Key Ring" and the "Mesh and Marble" fidgets to students. These have been selected due to their small nature, ability to be used in any situation, and their textures help to allow your mind to focus on something other than your stress or anxiety.
Eating a well balanced diet full of vitamins and minerals gives everyone, especially high school students, an awesome advantage when it comes to regulating their emotions throughout the day.
30 minuets of cardiovascular activity releases endorphins, a hormone which aids in emotional regulation. It gives a sense of pride, and allows you to put your energy towards something productive.
Our bodies require proper rest to function properly. For high school students that number is around 8 hours per night. It's important to have a routine and limit screen time while in bed so your mind relaxes.
