'EdTech is not a priority for my school'
Understanding the role of EdTech and School Improvement
Can you lead it if you haven't lived it?
Ribblesdale Head of School, Paul Edge is clear about school leaders that don't want to engage with EdTech
"I always say to them, just consider how the young people learn when they're not within our four walls. How do they embrace and learn new information and new techniques when they're at home? It's based on technology.
However, our young people are digital citizens in the 21st century who are absolutely going to use technology in whatever area of work they go into in their future careers."
Achieving school development priorities
An effective digital strategy can play a huge role in achieving school development priorities.
For instance, it can improve pupil attainment, reduce teacher workload and increase engagement and behaviour.
Given their career stage and age, some senior leaders may never have used modern educational technology as part of their teaching approach.
This can sometimes challenge them to understand how to prioritise and plan for technology integration within the school development plan.
Putting a Digital Strategy at the heart
of School Development
The role of EdTech to transform
Simon Pile, HeadTeacher at Anson Primary School Technology is no longer just a tool for learning; it's a key that unlocks a child's potential. It gives them a voice, a platform, and an audience for their work. It connects them to the wider world, opening their eyes to a universe of possibilities and career opportunities.
"Just as a pencil and paintbrush are essential tools for
expression, so too is technology for young people"
How EdTech can help?
Empowerment
Technology empowers pupils to express themselves creatively, whether it's through writing, making videos, or creating music.
Global classrooms
Imagine your pupils collaborating with peers from across the globe, learning about different cultures and perspectives.
Future-ready skills
We're preparing pupils for a world where technology is ubiquitous. They need to be comfortable using digital tools for problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication.
A robust digital strategy isn't about how much time is spent using devices; it's about integrating technology seamlessly into the learning experience. It's about giving students the tools they need to translate languages, publish their work, record their ideas, and bring their imaginations to life.
By putting digital strategy at the heart of school development, we're not just embracing the future of learning; we're investing in the potential of every child.
But we are already 'Good'!
Equipping pupils with EdTech skills is crucial for their future success.
It's not about changing who you are as a school, but evolving and adapting to the changing world around you. By embracing technology strategically, schools can build on existing strengths and create even more enriching and compelling learning experiences for their pupils. How can schools that are effective already be convinced to integrate EdTech?
