Securing Funding
Securing Funding
Start small, use what you have
Funding can be a major barrier to strategic EdTech adoption
but it doesn't need to prevent impactful progress
Begin with small, manageable steps, utilising the resources you already have. Starting small allows you to experiment, gather evidence, and build confidence before expanding your digital initiatives.
EdTech Hubs lead schools manage to secure enough of the right equipment to progress their teaching and learning strategy and reap all the associated benefits that were carefully planned for.
Think wider than just the 'technology budget'
Schools can also re-evaluate staffing needs, considering how technology might enable teachers and teaching assistants to support more pupils effectively. The focus should be on preparing students for a future where they are confident using technology to support their learning and independence.
Centralised Budgeting:
a MAT perspective
Centralised budgeting can empower schools to effectively fund their digital strategy by leveraging economies of scale for better pricing, strategically allocating resources, reducing administrative burden, facilitating long-term planning, and promoting equitable access to technology for all pupils.
Key Questions to consider about funding challenges in schools
What opportunities exist to deploy staff with more flexibility while promoting greater independence with learners using technology?
How does your current approach to everyday T&L help equip learners for the world they will face when they leave school?
How do you evaluate the effectiveness of past approaches, and what cost savings could be secured that could be spent on EdTech investments?
Do you know how much is spent on photocopying each term/year? Is this securing good value for money as well as being the most effective way to teach?
Is EdTech a priority?
An effective digital strategy can play a huge role in achieving school development priorities. However, some senior leaders may never have used modern educational technology as part of their teaching approach and so may need some convincing.
We have collected insights from across our lead schools to help explain the school improvement benefits and how EdTech can be at the foundation of improvements
