'I've been able to work within schools with a variety of children, so starting from year five all the way through up until year 13, I have supported the career aspirations of those young people. In particular, I've worked with some industries that have been able to incorporate their product within curriculums within schools. I've also worked with Royal Air Force in their STEM program as well, and I've been able to put on large events every year within the school to bring schools in primary school, and secondary schools in to see for themselves how robotics can be used within their own setting'

'With the robot, I found it really interesting how easy it was for beginners to code it, because you can use, I think it was Python JavaScript or block coding. So it's available for everybody. And yeah, it was pretty easy to use'

'I've just completed the year nine inspection design challenge, where you have to pick a problem, small one, big one in the world, and you have to solve that using the materials we got in the workshop'

'As a design technology teacher, anything that kind of is in my hands and I can work with, I can throw, I can take apart and put together again is really, really appealing'

'I would probably spend the first two or three lessons as practical ones, actually seeing what the robot can do, maybe watching what other people have done with it and then perhaps that would help me a bit more to interpret it into my design'

RHS SR 8 How many Robots do you need in a class?
'I think if this were to be incorporated within a classroom of year nines, then we would need several more of the robots, maybe perhaps six, one to three ratio. If this was in a primary setting, I think possibly more, because you would have maybe one to two. We're fortunate we have small class sizes here in this school, but this is perhaps something that could be embedded into the curriculum

'This being in someone's hands is the motivator for inspiration. And therefore, if they don't have it in their hands, then it's slightly more difficult for them to grasp the idea that a robot can support their idea process'

'I think it's' important that there are scaffolded resources that would facilitate a particular pupil or a particular class to do a particular activity in order for them to grasp what the robot does and how it could do that thing before they moved on to something a little bit more explorative. Perhaps at the tail end of Key Stage three and into Key Stage four. I think this is a very interesting product to use at Key Stage Five because it allows that pupil to explore very freely. We would expect someone at that age to do that approach, but they would need to be independent in their development. It also allows them to do it suitably at that age because they've had the know-how prior to that.'
