'So the impact it's having on the children is that it's encouraging them to find new ways to programme their devices and the robots in ways that they haven't done with some of the other devices they use.'

'The project around geometrical shapes and using the robots to draw them came about from a maths lesson where there was a lack of understanding as to the measurements of angles within 2D shapes. So we decided to use the Shape Robotics Kit to try and engage the children into finding out just exactly what angle is required for the robot to be able to turn on numerous occasions to create a perfectly regular hexagon, for example. Using the Shape Robotics Kit for a geometry lesson, for example, perhaps wouldn't have seemed the obvious choice at the outset'

'One of the things that we've really learned is the power of being able to use the Shape Robotics and integrate it with other kit that we have in school, such as Lego or Picoh, so that you can use it alongside other technologies and allow the children to explore with putting those different things together. And that's definitely the next stage of our journey to see how we can combine those things to develop the children's computational thinking and how we can have a wider impact across all areas of the curriculum.

'I learnt very early on that the idea that I had at the beginning of using this as a computing club wasn't perhaps the ideal way of introducing it to the children because those children wanted the answers there and then. We had to work through ensuring that the robots worked with our systems in school. Definitely, if I was to start the project from scratch, I would choose my digital leaders and get them involved in it before introducing it to a wider audience, as in a whole class'
