Supporting Home Learning with iPad

How do you use iPad to support home learning?

'We also use a learning platform called Showbie for learning in school, and then we use that for learning at home. And that was really useful because students had been using it all the time on their iPads, so they knew what they were doing. It wasn't learning this new platform they could at home, open up Showbie, carry on with all the skills they'd already learned in school. So, I think the fact that students were so used to using technology in school means that when it had to be done at home, they were prepared.'

How do you use iPad to support home learning?

'Our iPads remain at school, so children don't take them home but that doesn't mean that the link between home learning and school learning doesn't exist. Our home learning takes place through Showbie, that works really well in terms of parental engagement. Parents get a great view of what's going on'

David Maguire, Headteacher Coupals Primary Academy - Haverhill

How do you ensure equality of access for all learners at home?

'We found that actually pretty much everyone has got some form of Internet access at home, even if it's just on a phone. But we've also sent home devices, so during various lockdowns, we made devices available for families at home when it was a higher expectation of learning. We have offered the iPads to go home for that class so they can carry on the learning.'
