6141 – Painting

2 credits – semester course

Prerequisite: Drawing

An understanding of basic color theory will extend to an exploration of the emotional and persuasive application of color.  Students will learn essential acrylic and watercolor painting techniques including opacity, translucence, texture, and surface manipulation, and will apply those principles in projects that involve both observation and imagination.  Emphasis will be on composition, balance, focus, depth, and form.
