Everything about April Fools dayΒ  by Yeseul Lee

April first, also known as Aprill Fools day, is a very fun and interesting day. Many people plan their pranks just for this day, and some people keep others in check not to get pranked. Then, what is exactly a Aprill Fools day? Aprill Fools day is a day which people give and take jokes and pranks with each other. It is a day where you can "officially" make others laugh with you creative and funny way. Though did you know that April Fools day started in 1582? In 1582, France switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar. Julian calendar's first day of the year was April 1st. On the other hand, Gregorian calendar used January 1st as the first day of school. Some people, who weren't able to get the news of the calendar change, still thought that April 1st was the new year. People started to make a joke and prank those people who still got confused with the new year and that was the starting point of the April Fools day.

Save the planet, Earth dayΒ

by Yeseul Lee

Do you know about the Earth day? Earth day is a day for the Earth, and it is celebrated on April 22. Have you ever wondered why? The reason is that because Earth day was created by the college students, and April 22 was the day that was between spring break and final exams, it helped more students to participate in the activism. It's pretty interesting right?Β

There is a theme for the Earth day as well. These themes change every year and this year's theme is about Planet vs. Plastics, and it has a goal of reducing plastic consumption 60% by 2040.

There are a lot of activities for the Earth day such as recycling, planting a tree, and turning off the light. Any types of activities are fine as long as you try to take care of the Earth. How about this year, try to craft something with the used plastics? Our Earth will love to have you participate in the Earth day.Β

Little chitchat

My teachers' day experience in Korea is quite different from U.S.'s teachers' day. In Korea, we are not allowed to give gifts to our teachers. So instead of buying gifts, we collect letters from every one or throw a party for our teachers. Once we hid in the classroom with the lights off and surprised our teacher. Then we gave our letters to him. It wasn't like a big thing but our teacher loved it. In other year, my class decorated the class room with ballons and made a video for our teacher. After my teacher came in to the class room, we all watched the video together and had a little cake made with snacks. Then we all took a photo toghether with our teacher. It was all really fun memory to me.
