Creativity, activity, service (CAS) is one of the three essential elements that every student must complete as part of the Diploma Programme (DP).
CAS enables students to enhance their personal and interpersonal development by learning through experience.
It provides opportunities for self-determination and collaboration with others, fostering a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment from their work.
At the same time, CAS is an important counterbalance to the academic pressures of the DP.
CAS Learning Outcomes (LO) of CAS:
LO-1 - Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
LO-2 - Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
LO-3 - Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
LO-4 - Show commitment and perseverance in CAS experiences
LO-5 - Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
LO-6 - Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
LO-7 - Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions
CAS Project - Anna Kelley (Class of 2020) - Lexington High School "Giving Tree" Project (2019)
As part of her CAS Project, Anna Kelley (Class of 2020) created the Lexington High School "Giving Tree" project with hopes of collecting 50 gifts for a local battered women's shelter. By the end of the project she had collected over 150 gifts for the women and children of the shelter and created a project that will continue even after she has graduated.
