"US universities evaluate academic grades in the context of a student’s high school curriculum and its degree of rigor. The two-year IB Diploma Program is widely regarded as an academically demanding syllabus, and one that provides excellent preparation for college level coursework. ... One thing is for sure; by taking the IB Diploma, you automatically rise to the top of the admissions pool. US colleges love good grades, but what they love even more is to see that you’ve pushed yourself to get them. Universities appreciate the IB’s rigor and they know it takes hard work and dedication to perform well, particularly in Higher Level (HL) subjects." The Lexington One IB Diploma Program has a consistent history of helping students achieve a wide variety of academic awards and recognitions, including being recognized as part of the Top-10% of their respective school's graduating class. Over 40% of the past five years have been recognized at the Lexington One Excellence in Education Celebrations held at different dates/times in each of the District's high schools, honoring those students that are in the Top-10% of their class. Congratulations IB scholars!
Travel Programs are currently suspended due to COVID-19. We hope to restart this program during the 2023-2024 school year.
Each year, the IB Program will attempt to schedule an opportunity to travel and learn about the different geographic regions and cultures of the United States.
Most recently in 2019-2020, the Lexington1 IB Diploma Program partnered with EF Tours to design a custom-built 4-day, 3-night educational experience for students (March, 2020 - unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19): Washington, D.C: The Capital Tour. The experience was to include visits to the Marine Corps Museum, Arlington National Cemetery, and Ford's Theater (the site of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln).
