In this assignment we had to pick a photo out of a few choices and write a story about it. For my project, I chose a photo where someone is coming off a train and their family is rushing to hug them. My story is about a brother returning from war. I learned how to look at a photo and create a story that connects to the photo.

In this assignment we had to create an extended metaphor. An extended metaphor is taking a metaphor and writing a poem all about it. For my project, I chose to compare anxiety to a rollercoaster. I learned how to write an extended metaphor poem and what an extended metaphor is.

this is a poem we wrote about a picture. we could choose 1 picture from 10 to write about and i chose the picture of the tree on fire.  i made it a story about 2 best friends whos tree house cought on fire by lightning and they had to create a stronger bond by re building their treehouse. 

this is a poem we wrote. we had to compare summer to something. i compared it to joy and freedom. for an examle you could compare summer to a hot oven. We took our time and completed a packet to guide us through the assingment. 

In this assignment we wrote poems based on the songs from the dance showcase! This is my poem based on the song  Can't Hold Us. I learned from this unit that music has a deeper music than just being a song.

In this assignment we wrote poems called and extended metaphor where you make a single metaphor into a whole poem! This is my poem called Joy is a Sunny Day. I learned from this unit thatl metaphors can be so much more than a couple words.

In this assignment we wrote 100% about ourselves and we did percents  and if you add them all up they equal a 100% of us! My poem I worte is all the things that make up me! I learned a bit more bout myself during this assingment.

In this project we wrote a story based on one picture. I chose a picture with a burning house floating in the air but when I looked closer in the photo I saw a bird cage with a little bird inside, so I wrote this story in the brids perspective! I learned from this assignment that a picture can have a whole story behind it if you use your imagination.

For this assignment we had to write a story and through the process we had to craft a character. My characters name is Sloan which fun fact is my middle name. This story is a little bit more on the funny side but its worth the read.  Who knew golden toilets would ever take over the world but hey, anything is possible. I learned in order to craft a character you have to look at many aspects of their point of view in their life. Kind of like stepping in their shoes and trying to walk. This story overall does teach a valuable lesson about friendship. Especially about skibbitty friendships.  

This is a showcase poem called "This is Not Goodbye." While writing this I learned how to cooperate my perosonal feelings and put them in a poem for people who can realte. This poem specifically really touchs a deep place in my heart because I have been through this. And I know the feeling of saying goodbye. Its so, so, so, so hard. But you have to push through, put a smile on your face. I never took my time with them for granted. But eventually I learned its never goodbye. 

Fo this project we had to write a Metaphor Poem, which is a metaphor that is extened into a full poem. I love the idea of "Blossiming in life" so thats what I based this poem on. I learned in a metapohor you have to compare it to something so, I choose something totally unrelatable. I pinky promise it makes sense in the end. 

For this project we had to make a Concrete Poem which is where you combine a poem and an image that symbolizes the poem. I learned overall the use of words still convey the same meaning and still are just as important as looking at an image. I choose to do a wave beacuase that has so many diffrent perspectives on how it could feel or be. It could have a touch of simplicity or have a deeper meaning in the message. 

In this assignment we used a bunch of adjectives that described ourselves and added percents to them. All of the adjectives add up to 100% to make up 100% of us! For my project, I used a ton of different adjectives that I felt like described me. I learned how to take adjectives and make a poem out of them.

In this assignment we had to take the songs from the showcase and write poems about them. For my project, this poem is about the first song in the showcase, Fly by Celion Dion. I learned how to take the meaning of songs and write poems about them.

The title of this piece is the truth about a soccer ball.  I got information from comparing a soccer ball to a cloud. I learned how to make an extended metaphor that compares two things a object and a subject for a long time.

This is a extended metaphor poem I decided to write about the woods. an extended metaphor is a really long metaphor I learned what an extended metaphor is and how to write a poem about it.

This is me. In this assignment I had to write about what makes up 100% me. I added up all the percentages to make 100% me. i learned to be able to create a poem talking all about me/makes up me.

I used a rhyme skeme to make up this poem. I learned to create a rhyme skeme in my poems/writings. Creating a rhyme skeme helps convey my writing to the reader.

In this assignment we had to use two pieces of figurative language.  A quote from the song and write a poem to it. We also had to create rhymes and rhythm.  And make the poem flow well with the song. I chose to write my poem about how you can go off places and find your perfect place and know you will be okay.   I learned how to write and incorporate figurative language  in my poem.

In this poem we were to write a poem on a varity on things that relate to us. Then we would split them and give a percent for it to describe us.

For my project, I used adjectives, things I use, a sport, etc.

From this, I learned to divide up numbers to equal 100.

In this poem we were to get with a partner and make a poem including each other.

For my project, my friend and I made a poem using repition with saying "She is", and we would describe eachother with a metaphor or simile.

From this, I learned different ways to use figurative language. 

Let It Grow 

We wrote an extended metaphor poem. 

in this assighnment we wrote a dance poem. and this poem got in. This a emotonal poem. it really great. if you read it. i hope you like it. this one i will be reading in the  showcase. 

The cross, my home: This poem is called a concrete poem, which means making a poem about an object or thing and then making the poem look like the shape of the object, and for me, I chose the cross/God. Also, I learned that it can be hard to make the shape of the object your writing about.

My finger Print: In this poem we had to make a rough draft and then put it on a finger print. We also had to make this poem about our identity and who we are. I learned how to use my experiences and incorporate it into a poem.

This is not goodbye: This poem was apart of the dance poems we made. I made this poem about loosing someone, or more specificaly about someone I've lost. I learned that I can make a poem have so much emotion and express my feelings through a poem.

Girls: This poem was also apart of the dance poems we made for the showcase. This poem is about girls supporting other girls and always being there for eachother even through the highs and lows. I learned how to take a theme and turn it into a poem.

This poem is about a house that caught on fire because a persons friend betreyed him. I learned how to wite a long story.
