It has been a brilliant beginning to Year 5!
Already the pupils have achieved so much, thank you for supporting them at home so they can shine their best at school.
In Maths we have worked on Place Value, Rounding, Addition, Subtraction and finding multiples and factors. We will continue with Multiplication and Division after half term.
The Odyssey has inspired the Year 5 pupils to write letters and diary accounts in our English writing lessons. With our History topic also immersing them into the life of Ancient Greece, they have enjoyed learning many aspects of Greek Mythology. Below are photographs showing their Mythical Creature Kenning Poems.
In Science, the children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Forces such as gravity, friction, air and water resistance. The highlight was certainly our day at Thorpe Park for the STEAM event led by ACS Cobham.
Topography in Art, encouraged creativity with writing styles and we have studied how this is used in the real world by Typographer Louise Fili.
I was delighted to hear how brilliantly Redwings Class sang the Sea Shanties in our Music lessons. We have explored the working song rhythms and harmonies. I am certain the children will perform well at our Christmas concert in a few months time.
Have a lovely half term and I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 4th November.
