Before half term Puffins thoroughly enjoyed their Ancient Egyptian workshop. Thank you to all the parents who gave up their time so that this could run smoothly. Year 3 also enjoyed being transported back into the past by taking part in a Now Press Play experience where they learnt to be Egyptian scribes.
Since half term we have moved onto a number of new topics. In Maths, we have been learning about Money and will be moving onto telling the time. In English, we have been reading and writing poetry inspired by Valerie Bloom and will be moving onto reading The Firework Makers Daughter by Phillip Pullman. In Science, we are investigating animals including humans and have been thinking about the bones and muscles in the human body. In our Geography this half term we will be answering the question of "why do people live near volcanoes?". Puffins have already enjoyed finding out about what's inside our earth.
Swimming starts for Year 3 next week (Wednesday 12th March) and Puffins are very much looking forward to it. We have also been rehearsing for our upcoming production of Hoodwinked with Year 4. Thank you for all of your support helping your children to learn lines and songs. Please keep it up! It will all help. The production performances are on the 1st and 2nd of April - costume letter to follow!
World Book Day yesterday was amazing - we had such fantastic costumes and wooden spoon characters! Thank you very much for your support - and for donations of books for the big book swap.
Please join me after school next week on Thursday 13th March for a meeting about our up coming residential trip to Sayers Croft.
