What a truly vibrant and exciting few weeks it has been at West Ashtead! I am absolutely bursting with pride as I reflect on the incredible achievements and experiences our children have enjoyed.
Firstly, a huge congratulations to our wonderful choir who performed at the Dorking Halls Surrey Music Festival! Their voices filled the hall with joy and their performance was simply magnificent. It was a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the fantastic musical talent we nurture here at West Ashtead. Thank you to all the parents who came to support them and to Mrs Parr and Mrs Price for preparing them so well.
We've also been incredibly busy with a range of enriching workshops, designed to broaden our children's horizons and ignite their passions. From creative arts to STEM activities, the children have been immersed in hands-on learning, developing new skills and discovering hidden talents.
Our Year 6 pupils participated in the Junior Citizen event, gaining invaluable knowledge about safety and community responsibility. It's wonderful to see them developing into responsible and informed young citizens.
And, of course, I am delighted to share the fantastic news of our recent Challenge Partner quality assurance review. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and I am incredibly proud to announce that the review highlighted the key strengths of West Ashtead, recognising the dedication and hard work of our staff, the enthusiasm of our children, and the supportive partnership we have with you, our parents. The full report, which details the many areas of excellence, is available on our school website for you to read at your leisure.
These past few weeks have truly exemplified the vibrant and enriching learning environment we strive to create at West Ashtead. It is a privilege to witness our children grow and flourish, and I am continually impressed by their resilience, creativity, and kindness.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
In loving memory of Bryan Uduoborie

Exciting Hybrid Opportunity
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children? West Ashtead Primary Academy is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our team in a unique hybrid role that combines the responsibilities of a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, a Learning Support Assistant and a Midday Supervisor. This position offers a varied and rewarding opportunity to contribute to the educational and pastoral well-being of our pupils.

As a state school, our budget from the Surrey Local Authority is calculated on a ‘per pupil’ basis and, in inflation adjusted terms, has not risen commensurately with our costs for several years. Despite considerable efforts by the school’s staff to rigorously control costs while maintaining high standards of educational quality, costs have risen.
We are establishing a voluntary contribution fund to advance the education of pupils at West Ashtead Primary Academy by the provision of resources, equipment, teaching and facilities for education in addition to those provided out of public funds. The voluntary contributions are essential if our school is to maintain its current standards and provision. Our intention is that the fund has a specific focus, this year it is technology and specifically raising funds to upgrade our interactive boards.
Request - what are we asking of you?
Contributing to the fund is voluntary. We’re aware that many families already contribute generously to the school through supporting the Friends’ initiatives. This is an invaluable source of funding for us that has financed some fantastic additional resources for the pupils, such as iPads, our library, STEAM room and classroom resources. We also know that not all parents are able to attend and support the Friends’ events and may wish to support the School in other ways.
We are suggesting a donation of £50 annually per family. You may wish to contribute less or more, annually or monthly. Every contribution will go towards us being able to invest in additional technology to enhance our children's learning. Parents can pay for School Fund online via our Arbor payment system, go to Accounts - School Fund - Top Up Account.
We would like to thank you for your support.
