Puffins have had an extremely busy start to this half term. and had the opportunity to take part in a number of enrichment activities. Their violin playing has developed tremendously over the course of the year and they are thoroughly enjoying the lessons. A big thank you for joining us at our recent Reading Cafe, the children really do appreciate it.
In our Computing lessons Puffins have been using the Lego Spike equipment to build Ferris Wheels and Taxis. They worked together to code the models and enjoyed racing their taxis this week.
Puffins had a great trip to The Weald and Downland Museum. They enjoyed taking part in a wash day workshop in a cottage that used to be near the railway line in Ashtead. They were surprised to learn that during the Victorian era the family who lived in the house had 8 children! They also enjoyed the opportunity to look inside other historical buildings and investigate what it would have been like to live in them in the past.
Our recent trip to The Royal Holloway was a great success. Puffins enjoyed meeting their PenPals at the ACS Literacy Festival where they took part in a Wizard of Oz drama workshop and were inspired by two authors - Emily Fellah and Alex Falase-Koya. They also had the opportunity to choose a book to take home and keep.
Thank you for supporting your child and helping to organise their costume for Amazing People Dress Up Day on Monday!
This week we enjoyed our last Forest School session and toasted marshmallows on the fire whilst dressed as an amazing historical figure!
In our Science lesson on Wednesday we learned about the different parts of flowers and dissected tulips to get a better look at each part. The children laid their tulip out onto paper and labelled it.
On Thursday Puffins enjoyed taking part in a singing workshop with Esther Jones from Ashtead Youth Choir.
