Year 2 have had a busy few weeks of learning.
We have been reading 'The Egg box dragon' and the children were inspired to create their own dragons. Their creations were brilliant and we are continuing to work on this story which they are all very much enjoying.
We also had our Big Sing performance in which the children truly shone. Our solo performance was amazing and then they also joined in beautifully with the mass choir songs. The children worked very hard to learn the words and overcome their nerves to perform to a packed church. We were very proud of them.
We have also had the 'Amazing People' dress up day where the children dressed up as some inspirational people from the past. The children knew so many facts about who they were dressed up as and enjoyed showing their costumes to the class. It was a great effort from them all.
We also had our final Reading Cafe of the year and it was great to see so many of you come along and read with the children. Thank-you for all of your support!
Mrs Rymill will continue to be in school 4 days a week with Mrs Courthold working with Year 2 on a Friday.
We have now transitioned onto TTRS in Year 2. Children should be using this to develop their fluency in their 2, 5 and 10 times tables.
All children should be aiming to read for at least 10 minutes per day. Do record this in their reading diary as they are monitored.
Each week your child will bring home a printed list of words to practise spelling at home.
At this point in the year there will not be handwriting homework. In Year 2 we are beginning to join up our handwriting and writing in cursive. You may choose to help your child practise this at home.
