This week our story has been Jack and the Beanstalk- the children have had a wonderful week learning all about the story. We have had a go at writing the beginning, middle and end of Jack and the Beanstalk. The children ordered pictures and then used their phonics knowledge to sound out the words. We have planted our own beans and we are looking forward to watching them grow. The children have learnt about a new topic in maths- subtraction. The children used jottings to help them to subtract numbers. In art we have made our own compositions with fruit and glasses. We took a picture and this week we sketched our pictures. We are looking forward to choosing a material to add colour to them in the next couple of weeks.
The children loved Forest School this week where we did some pond dipping and looked at the things we had caught under the microscopes. Some children caught tadpoles and pond skaters which they were very excited about. Miss Bignell and Mrs Snelling managed to catch 4 newts and a dragonfly larvae.
We have enjoyed the warm weather and have enjoyed going outside in the afternoons. We had platters of different fruit to try as a treat this week!
