This week's learning...

This week in English, we have started our new text Akimbo and the Elephants. We have created our own nature reserves and collected vocabulary to describe an elephant. We have also worked on nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and similes. In maths we have started to explore the place value of three digit numbers. We have looked at identifying the value of digits as well as ordering numbers. In our science lessons we have also started our new topic, Food and Our Bodies. We have started by identifying different food groups and learning about the foods we would find in each. We also began to explore our new topic in Geography, 'Amazing Africa'. We learnt about the equator, and some of the countries that make up the continent of Africa.

Upcoming learning...

Next week in English we will be writing our own poems about elephants. We will be looking at what a good poem looks like by identfying the features of a poem and using this to create our own. In maths we will be identifying how to find ten and one hundred more or less than a number as well as learning how to count in multiples of fours and eight. In science we will be using our knowledge of the different food groups to create a healthy lunch. In geography we will be identifying the human and physical features of Africa.
