Girls' Pre Season Football Friendlies - The Girls' football season got underway at Brookfield recently with a Year 5&6 trial squad taking part in a mini round robin friendly tournament at Brookfield. We played matches against Cheam Common and Manor Park managing to win both of these games. The first match was against Cheam Common and it was an end-to-end match with the final result being 4-3 to Brookfield. In our second match we played Manor Park managing to win this match 5-0 with lots of different goal scorers. We were able to take so many positives and learn so much by taking part in these matches with the competitive season starting soon!
Year 6 Girls Surrey Cup Round 1 - Last Tuesday the girls football team won a match against Shawley in the first round of the Surrey Cup. "10 minutes into the match we took the lead with Darcie’s amazing goal. Unfortunately, Shawley equalised by scoring a goal straight from kick off. Just before half time we retook the lead with Daisy’s unexpected goal. The second half of the match was very quiet until the last 5 minutes when Darcie scored 2 more goals completing her hat-trick. When the full time whistle blew we were all very excited! We are very proud of ourselves and we look forward to finding out who we are playing in the next round". By Daisy S and Darcie R
Year 6 Boys Surrey Cup Round 1 - Brookfield Boys triumph over Cobham - Last week, on the 29th of September, Cobham Free School came to play a football match against Brookfield Primary Academy in the first round of the Surrey Cup. "In the first minutes of the game, Brookfield was intimidating their opponents by passing the ball around the pitch.Once the opposition had become irritated, Brookfield quickly did a counter attack and Pratyush -who was the Right Back in the match-passed it onto Leyton-Rae who then skilled up one child and did a beautiful strike into the side netting. Shortly after some period of time, Josh doubled our lead by shooting the ball into the roof of the net. Next, the match got more intense as Alfie did a perfect strike from an awkward position. After Brookfield scored, Cobham Primary wanted their payback and scored. Cobham started to grow into the game and managed to grab another goal. Once the opposition had scored two goals, Brookfield had also gained strength and scored another five goals to defeat Cobham Primary once and for all with the following people scoring: Sameer(1), Josh (2) and Leyton (2). Well done to everyone who played in the game! Now, Brookfield has proven its worth and is ready to face any other challenges and obstacles that come in their way". By Argan and Cayleb
Brookfield were very lucky to be chosen to go to Sutton United for a workshop all about 'Show Racism The Red Card'. During the event, the children were introduced to what racism is, hate crime, stereotypes and how we can help tackle these issues.
We were also very lucky to have some of the Sutton United Players come and speak to the children about their own experiences and how they have dealt with any racial issues that they have had. It was a very informative event.
The children were also lucky to be able to have a tour of the football ground.
