We operate a coloured bands system for our school meals so that the children do not have to remember what they have ordered each day. The list of their daily choices along with the appropriate meal colour lanyard or sticker will be provided to the class teacher each morning and these will then be handed to the children at lunchtime.
Our school meals are cooked on site and the varied menus rotate on a three weekly basis. The menus can also be found on our website: https://www.brookfieldprimary.com/725/school-meals
Children can choose to have school lunches every day, a combination of days or just one day a week but we do ask parents to help them choose their daily choices at the start of every week to help with the smooth running of the kitchen.
Red - Meat Option
Green - Vegetarian Option
Blue - Halal Option
Orange - Pasta/Jacket Potato - (Option every other day)
Due to the Government’s ‘School fruit and vegetable scheme’, every child in Reception and Key Stage 1, are provided with a free piece of fruit or vegetable each day.
Children in Key Stage 2 are encouraged to bring a healthy snack in for break times. This should be a piece of fruit or vegetable only. Please remember we are a nut-free school.
Children who attend schools in Sutton qualify for Universal Free School Meals (UFSM). Your child will receive their free school meals automatically. You are able to have a flexible pattern for which days your child wishes to have a school dinner or packed lunch. Your child will be asked during morning registration of their meal preference for the day.
Our ‘Grab and Go’ menu will continue for Year 5 and 6 this year as an additional option to the current school meal menu. With all Grab and Go meals pupils will also be able to choose from a range of desserts e.g. cake / yoghurt / shortbread / cookies / cheese and biscuits.
Research shows that when children eat well at lunchtime they perform better in class in the afternoon. Therefore it is recommended that all lunch boxes include...

Meat, fish or other source of non-dairy protein (e.g. chicken, turkey, ham, beef, pork, tuna, lentils, kidney beans, chickpeas, hummus and falafel) should be included every day. (Oily fish such as salmon or tuna at least once every three weeks).
A starchy food such as any type of bread, pasta, rice, couscous, noodles, potatoes or other type of cereals every day (e.g. pitta bread, tortilla wraps, rice cakes, oat cakes) should be included each day.
Dairy food such as milk, cheese, yoghurt, fromage frais or custard should be included every day.
Drinks should be only water or milk.
An example of a recommended lunch box could be a chicken salad wrap, an apple, yoghurt, a low sugar flap jack and a drink of water
