Year 1
Year 1
Can you believe it? We're already in the final stretch of Year 1, and what an incredible journey it's been! Time has absolutely flown by, and we're so proud of how our young adventurers have embraced every new challenge. A huge thank you for your patience and support with our classroom moves – the children have settled in brilliantly, ready for more exciting discoveries!
Before the break, Year 1 was buzzing with activity! We had an absolute blast rolling out of bed and into school in our pyjamas for Pyjamarama Day – a truly cozy and fun way to support a great cause.
We also spectacularly celebrated World Diversity Day, thanks to two very special guests: Mark's mum and Neevas's mum! They captivated all of Year 1 with amazing presentations and shared heartwarming glimpses into their family lives. The children were utterly enthralled, and we extend our sincerest gratitude for their fantastic slides and the fascinating artefacts they brought in. What a wonderful way to learn about our diverse world!
In Literacy, we've been on a roll with the delightful story of "Mrs. Armitage on Wheels." Our budding designers have been hard at work, creating their very own dream bikes and are now crafting persuasive adverts to sell them! They've been recording their fantastic sentences on Seesaw, and we can't wait to see their final adverts.
Meanwhile, in Maths, we've been spinning, turning, and getting our directions straight! We've explored directional and positional language, mastering whole, half, and quarter turns. Why not have some fun at home, giving each other directions, and see if your child knows their left from their right? It's a great way to practice!
Our Science explorers have been busy investigating through stories, and last week they ventured outdoors to measure trees. They discovered the incredible secret of tree rings – a natural diary that reveals how old a tree really is!
And get ready for some delicious learning in DT! We will be wrapping up our topic by making yummy smoothies! To prepare, we've begun by sorting some food, discovering the key difference between fruits and vegetables: if it has pips, seeds, or stones, it's a fruit!
Finally, our Music sessions have been filled with rhythmic joy as we've accompanied our latest song with claves – Year 1 has some serious rhythm!
We're looking forward to an amazing final half term packed with learning, laughter, and unforgettable moments!
Thank you again for your continued support.
