What a busy and exciting few weeks it's been in Year 3! The children have truly immersed themselves in a range of fascinating topics and we are so proud of their hard work and enthusiasm.
Our creative writing has taken a spooky turn as we delved into the world of curses! The children have written some incredibly imaginative (and hopefully not too effective!) instructions on how to create a curse for a pharaoh. We've explored the key features of instructional writing, from imperative verbs to clear and concise language.
We've also made a splash this half-term, with the start of our swimming lessons. It’s been fantastic to see the children grow in confidence in the water, and we have been particularly impressed with their determination.
History has come alive as we've journeyed back in time to learn about the Roman invasion of Britain. We’ve discussed Boudicca's brave rebellion and investigated the reasons behind the Roman army's impressive success. The children have been fascinated by the stories of battles and emperors, and have asked some brilliant questions.
Finally, in maths, we've been busy exploring the concepts of distance, volume, and capacity. From measuring lengths with rulers to experimenting with different sized containers, the children have developed a solid understanding of these important mathematical skills.
It's been a truly fantastic few weeks, and I'm looking forward to more exciting learning adventures after the break!
In the next term, we will be learning:
Maths - the children will be looking at mass in grams and kilograms.
Writing - Our text will be "Pharaoh in the Bath" and we will write a persuasive speech.
Science - Our Science topic that we are looking at this half term will be "Rocks and soil"
