This half term our theme is 'Real Life Superheroes', such as police officers, firefighters, doctors, nurses, dentists, carers, teachers and more!
In Maths this term we will be focusing on one number each week. In the past two weeks we have been focusing on numbers 2 and 3, while recapping what we can recall about our previous focus numbers, 0 and 1. We have also been focusing on subitising up to 3, where we gain the ability to look at a small set of objects and know how many items there are without having to count them.
In Phonics we have been learning about the sounds 'o' (octopus, orange and otter) and 'c' (cat, cap and coin). We continue to practice segmenting and blending, listening for the individual sounds that we can hear in words and then trying to blend them together, such as c-a-t and c-oi-n.
In R.E. we have been learning about different festivals that people celebrate by continuing to look at Chinese New Year and starting to look at Persian New Year - A Nowruz Story.
In Art we have been exploring how we can make different marks by using string or wool dipped in paint and using this to print different lines.
In Computing we have been thinking about the amount of time that we spend on our devices and learning how we can use a timer to limit or check the amount of time that we are spending on them.
We enjoyed coming into school in our pyjamas and comfy clothes for Calm Day (pyjama day) last Friday. We also took part in some yoga and enjoyed a CBeebies Bedtime Story.
Coral class enjoyed a visit from the police, where they were able to try on police hats and sit in a police van.
