Reception Class has been blooming with learning and excitement over the past two weeks! Last week, we explored the vibrant pages of 'The Extraordinary Garden,' which inspired us to delve into the world of instruction writing. The children carefully considered each step as they penned their own guides on 'How to Plant a Bean,' showcasing their growing understanding of sequencing and procedural language. In Maths, we put our knowledge of number bonds of 5 to the test with an engaging guessing game, using our mental maths skills to deduce the hidden quantities within a bag. Our creative juices also flowed freely as we embarked on a still life painting activity, resulting in some wonderful artistic compositions.
This week, we were captivated by the classic tale of 'Jack and the Beanstalk.' We journeyed through the beginning, middle, and end of the story, carefully discussing the key events before putting our literacy skills into practise by writing our own retells, with a focus on remembering those all-important full stops, capital letters, and finger spaces. In Religious Education, we explored the story of 'The Gold Giving Serpent' and discussed the valuable moral lesson it conveyed. In other truly exciting news, our classroom has become even more magical as some of our very own butterflies have finally emerged from their chrysalises! We are observing them with awe and wonder.
