It's been another busy couple of weeks in Year 6. We've been getting stuck into our class book, Holes by Louis Sachar, and its brilliant story has inspired some fantastic writing! We've focused on developing our narrative skills, thinking carefully about how to structure a compelling story. Fractions can be tricky, but Year 6 is conquering them! We've been building on our knowledge of numerators and denominators and moving on to some challenging concepts, such as ordering, adding and subtracting fractions. In History, we've become local detectives, investigating how and why our local area has changed over time. We looked at census data as well as old photographs to see how Sutton has developed over the past one-hundred years. Finally, In DT, Year 6 turned into master chefs for a fantastic food technology unit! We focused on designing, preparing, and cooking a complete three-course meal: a starter, main course, and dessert. The results were delicious, and everyone showed great teamwork and responsibility throughout!
