That was a busy fortnight for Year 5! In English, the children channelled their passion for the ocean by designing brilliant, persuasive leaflets to help save the sea turtles, drawing inspiration directly from our class novel, Kensuke's Kingdom. This deep dive into persuasive writing has really helped them connect their learning to a real-world issue. Meanwhile, in Maths, we've conquered column addition and subtraction, and are now moving into the fascinating world of factors, multiples, and prime numbers – challenge your child to find all the prime numbers under 20! Our budding scientists have been busy hypothesising and experimenting with dissolving, carefully observing which substances disappear in water and which remain. We can't wait to see their final, unique typographical maps in Art next week, which will be ready to bring home and display. Finally, in History, the class explored the incredible achievements of the Vikings, moving beyond the 'raiders' stereotype to discover their lasting impact as settlers, traders, and explorers.
