In year 2, we have been learning:
Maths - we have been finding durations of time, working out how long someone might be in the library or at school.
Writing - the children have been looking at comparative conjunctions and using them to compare a character at the start of the story to at the end.
History - in our topic, What is a Monarch?, the children have using the Bayeux Tapestry to investigate how William the Conqueror became King of England and comparing his absolute monarchy to our current constitutional monarchy.
Science - in our topic, Plants, the children have been looking at the growth of our beans that we have put in different environments and tracking their growth.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - the children will start to practically look at scales and capacity, investigating which containers can hold the most water.
Writing - we will look at the features of comparative character descriptions before planning and writing our own.
History - in our topic, What is a monarch?, the children will look at how William I ruled England through the Motte and Bailey and Stone Keep castles that he built. The children will use VR technology to visit some of his castles and look at the features of them.
Science - we will be continuing to track the progress of out plants as well as looking at life cycles.
