What a busy start to the term for Year 6! In maths, the children have been showing great resilience tackling fractions, decimals, and percentages, alongside honing their skills with formal written methods. It's fantastic to see their confidence growing in these key areas. Meanwhile, our English lessons have been buzzing with a focus on bolstering grammar, expanding vocabulary, and perfecting punctuation. To bring this learning to life, we embarked on an engaging "Now Press Play" adventure where the children stepped into different stories and then applied their grammar knowledge in between the action – a truly immersive way to learn! Finally, creativity is flowing in art as we've begun our exciting new topic: shadow puppets. Did you know that shadow puppetry has a rich history, dating back over 2000 years in some parts of the world, offering a fascinating blend of storytelling and visual art? We can't wait to see the imaginative characters and performances the children will create.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - Measurement
Writing - Grammar, vocabulary and punctuation
Reading - focusing on vocabulary and understanding of the text.
Science - We will be starting our new topic on the circulatory system.
Geography - We will be starting our new topic 'Where does our energy come from?'
