In English, we have been reading and reciting the poem 'The Nut Tree' by Julia Donaldson and have used it as a stimulus to write our own Woodland Walk poem. Over the last two weeks in maths, we have been learning about the fractions. We have been finding half and quarters of shapes and numbers. We have also been making and identifying numbers to 100 using the tens and ones manipulatives. In history, we have begun our new unit of work on explorers. We have ordered pictures of explorers on a timeline and found out facts about Christopher Columbus, Mary Kingsley, Matthew Henson and Dame Ellen MacArthur. In science, we have been learning about the parts of a plant and what each part does. In art, in our new unit of work exploring flora and fauna, we have been have been discussing and recreating artwork as well as making sketches from real life photos and nature clips.
