YEAR 2
YEAR 2
Dear Parents and Carers,
Another fortnight has flown by, filled with exciting learning experiences in Year 2!
Writing:
We have immersed ourselves in the story "The River" and wrote diary entries from the perspective of the girl on the boat. We focused on using vivid vocabulary related to emotions to make our entries more engaging and realistic. We explored how to convey feelings like fear, excitement, and wonder through our writing, making our diary entries truly come to life.
Maths:
We've been busy exploring the world of shapes! We looked at symmetry, identifying lines of symmetry in various 2D shapes. We also explored the properties of different shapes, discussing their sides and vertices. We then moved on to creating and describing patterns using shapes, and practised turning shapes in different directions.
History:
Through primary sources, we learned about the remarkable Amelia Earhart and her significant contributions to aviation. We discussed her courage, determination and the reasons why she is considered such an important figure in history. We
Science:
We explored different habitats and discussed how animals adapt to their environments. We briefly recapped food chains, discussing what different animals eat and how they obtain their food.
R.E.:
We continued our exploration of the Easter story, delving into the events and their significance. We discussed the themes of hope and new life.
D.T.:
Our young designers and inventors put their skills to the test this week! We built and tested the baby bear chairs we designed earlier this term. We evaluated the strength and stability of our chairs. The children were delighted to see their creations come to life.Â
Sincerely,
The Year 2 Team
