The last two weeks have been a whirlwind of exciting learning in Year 6!
Maths
Our mathematicians have been tackling the concept of ratio with gusto! We've explored ratios in both arithmetic questions and word problems, developing our understanding of how to simplify ratios and solve problems involving proportional relationships.
English
Stepping into the shoes of Stanley Yelnats' lawyer, our pupils have crafted compelling formal letters demanding his immediate release from Camp Green Lake. We've focused on persuasive language and formal tone, and some of the letters produced have been truly outstanding.
Science
Our scientists have delved into the fascinating world of the periscope. Through engaging experiments and research, they've gained a deep understanding of how periscopes work and their various applications. The children have also created some brilliant videos explaining the science behind periscopes in a clear and engaging way.
Geography
Our fieldwork project has culminated in the writing of compelling reports. The children have written as professional reporters, analyzing their findings and making insightful observations about the local environment. We've also explored potential solutions to environmental challenges in Sutton, and the children have written persuasive paragraphs outlining their proposals to Sutton Council.
Music
The Year 6 Christmas performance was a resounding success! The children sang beautifully and performed with great confidence. A big thank you to all the parents who came to watch – your support was greatly appreciated.
We wish all our parents a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing you all in the new year!
You should spend at least 30-45 minutes completing the homework grid per week. We would prefer you to complete your home learning and submit it onto the Google Classroom. You may complete it on paper if required.
In total, you should spend between 1 hour and 1 hour and a half on your homework.
Spelling tests will be every Friday
Reading diaries will be checked every Monday
