NURSERY
NURSERY
We hope this newsletter finds you well and that you're getting into the festive spirit! The past two weeks in Nursery have been filled with fun, laughter, and exciting activities.
Our new post office role-play area has been a huge hit! The children have been busy sorting, stamping, and delivering Christmas parcels with incredible enthusiasm. It's been wonderful to see their imaginations soar as they take on the roles of post officers and customers.
We've also been focusing on technology this fortnight. Thanks to the arrival of our new Chrome Tabs, the children have been exploring the digital world and developing essential skills. We've been teaching them about sensible screen time usage and guiding them in using technology safely and responsibly.
Outside, we've been embracing the winter chill and creating a magical Christmas grotto. The children have been busy making paper mache baubles to decorate our outdoor space, adding to the festive cheer.
We're very much looking forward to our Christmas sing-a-long next week, where the children can showcase their musical talents and spread some holiday cheer.
We hope you all have a wonderful week ahead filled with festive fun!
RECEPTION
Reception has had a fantastic fortnight filled with learning and exploration! We embarked on a journey with 'The Gruffalo', delving into the wonderful world of animals. Inspired by our Gruffalo adventures, our mud kitchen has transformed into the enchanting "Deep Dark Mud Cafe"! This immersive play space features a Gruffalo-inspired menu with delectable treats like scrambled snake and owl ice cream. As young chefs, waiters, and customers, our learners have been busy whipping up culinary delights, taking orders, and engaging in lively conversations, all while developing essential communication, language, and role-playing skills.
Our budding writers have been strengthening their phonics skills, diligently practicing blending and segmenting sounds to spell and write words. Some are even confidently crafting sentences all on their own! We've mastered all of our phase two sounds and continue to tackle tricky words every day.
In maths, we've been investigating number composition, with the children showcasing their impressive knowledge of number bonds to 5. They've used the part-whole model to demonstrate the different ways to make 5. We are continuing to develop our understanding of representing numbers in different forms. We are using the concrete, pictorial, and abstract approach to help learners demonstrate their understanding of representing numbers in different ways.
December has arrived, bringing the magic of Christmas to our classrooms! Ruby learners have transformed into postal workers, diligently sorting and sending letters to Santa in their brand new Post Office role-play area. Meanwhile, Jet class has been hard at work in Santa's Workshop, building toys and wrapping presents for the big day.
We've been busy spreading holiday cheer in art class with a flurry of festive crafts! From designing unique snowflakes to crafting personalised Christmas cards, and even constructing snowmen from 2D shapes, we've been embracing the Christmas spirit with creativity and enthusiasm.
Next week is our Christmas concert!
Our learners have been practicing for the last few weeks, and we're all excited to see you on Tuesday.
