In Reception, we really enjoyed meeting the MET Police! We found out all about the job that the police officers do and how they keep us safe. We had fun learning about the uniform they wear and the equipment they use. We learnt some new words including: emergency, address and helmet.
We also enjoyed learning the story of 'Superworm'. How long was he? We looked at words to describe worms and drew careful pictures of minibeasts.
In phonics, we have now learnt all our Phase Three double sounds- can you remember the new ones from this week? 'er' and 'air'
In Nursery over the past few weeks, we have been learning about the real life heroes Police and Doctors. We have talked about how they help people and the equipment they use. The police came to visit us and took our finger prints!
This week as part of Chinese New Year we tasted some food and found it interesting.
In Maths, we explored number 3 and 4; the children looked at the number, and practised writing it in the air or tracing it. They also did actions, counting claps, taps on their head etc. We also practised subitising, the ability to recognise the number of objects in a small group without the need to count them.
In Literacy, we have been learning phase 1 phonics. This week we listened to words beginning with 't' and 'p' identifying the sound at the beginning.
For Winnie the Pooh day the children took part in activities linked to the Winnie the Pooh characters. After hearing the story of how the characters made pictures for Piglet to show how he had helped them, some of the children chose to make a picture for someone who had been kind to them. We have also had fun exploring colour mixing this week.
