Early Years Playground

We are delighted to inform you that our Early Years Outside provision is going to be completely revamped next week (starting Monday 25th of September) and the work is planned to take 2 weeks (weather permitting).

During this period pick up and drop off for Early Years will be different. Please see the details below on where your child should be collected.

Drop off for Nursery and Reception: (normal time drop off)

Location: School Hall door (signs will be displayed)

Parents/ Carers will drop off their children via the hall door. Please can parents/ carers form a line by their class sign and the teacher will sign them in accordingly. If your child is in Ruby or Jet (Reception) please see the signs that are to your right. Nursery parents are to line up to the left.

Nursery Morning collection (11.45am) and Afternoon drop off (12.15pm)

Please report to the school office where your child will be dismissed by Mrs Reddington at 11.45am and afternoon children collected at 12.15pm by Miss Hayward and taken through the school corridor to the Nursery classroom.

Pick up for Nursery and Reception

Collection of your child will be the same as drop off. Parents are to line up in a queue system by their class signs and wait for their child to be dismissed. This could take some time initially but please be patient.

Year 1

Drop off and Pick up for Year 1: Normal times for both drop off and pick up. Same location for drop off and pick up (Emerald classroom door and Jade classroom door) but the route to get to the classrooms has changed for this duration of time:

Year 1 parents are to enter via the school main playground gates and walk around the school building (by the Year 6 classrooms next to the PE field), around to the left of the school building past the forest school area, keep left and then you will reach the Year 1 classrooms. Please bear in mind that this is a narrow pathway so you will need to give way to others and be patient with this. There will be signs and members of staff to direct you along this route.

Harvest Festival

This Autumn we will be collecting donations for Sutton Food Bank.

Children can start bringing in items from Monday 25th September - Monday 9th October.

Please refer to the attached flyer for items needed.

Please note the following: -

WELCOME

Welcome to the 2023-2024 academic year at Brookfield Primary Academy!

I am delighted to welcome back our returning pupils and their families, as well as to extend a warm welcome to our new pupils and their families. A warm welcome also to new members of staff who have joined our Brookfield family this September.

I am so excited to be starting another year as Principal of this wonderful school. Brookfield Primary Academy is a vibrant and inclusive community where all students are encouraged to reach their full potential. We believe that every child is unique and special, and we are committed to providing them with the support and opportunities they need to succeed.

This year, we are looking forward to continuing to build on our strong academic foundation and to providing our pupils with a rich and engaging curriculum.

I am confident that this will be a successful year for all of our pupils. I look forward to working with you and your children to make it a special one.

I encourage you to stay involved in your child's education and to support the Brookfield Primary Academy community.

Kind regards

Please scroll down and check if the information is correct, if you need to make any changes this can be done via the app and will be automatically sent to the office admin team to approve.

PTFA

After a long summer break, lots of requests and some serious conversations, we are delighted to confirm that we have agreed to continue running the Brookfield PTFA for this term and we would love to welcome Colin Borrowdale and Sarah Grice to the PTFA Exec Team.

We have a wider PTA WhatsApp group where we liaise with class reps and also keep you in the loop about events coming up and the help we need to make these events a success -we would love to welcome some new parents to join this. If you would like to be part of the wider team, then please email us and we will add you.

We are still in need of organisers and supporters to help support the PTFA and our fundraising. Everything the PTFA does is to benefit our children and their school experience. Below are some of the ways you can help to  PTFA:

*Could you do a trip shopping and buy supplies for our events? (using our money, not your own)

*Can you help fill sweetie bags for us in the evenings in advance of events?

*Are you great on Instagram and Facebook and be willing to update our pages before and after our events?

*Are you creative and can make posters?

*Are you happy to offer your time and help to run events where needed?

All these little things make the PTFA successful and we really need you to help us! You aren’t expected to commit a certain number of hours or days - we just need to know you’re on hand!

Please see below a round up of some our our fundraising initiatives for the last academic year. With your help we'd love to raise as much money this year.

We have a few events lined up so expect to hear from us again once dates are confirmed, but if you’d like to join please come and speak to us - the more the merrier!

LOVE OF READING!

Within our reading lessons, the children are sharing the books that they love and they favourite recommendations! Each class also has their own book that they are reading during their Read Aloud sessions, which has been chosen by the children themselves.

Here are some quality recommended books for all ages to enjoy with your loved ones! We'd love to hear about any new recommendations!

CANOE SLALOM WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Brookfield were fortunate enough to receive tickets to the Canoe World Championships 2023 to watch the athletes take part in the event whilst also receiving the opportunity to have a go at kayaking themselves. We were also very lucky to meet a British Olympic Gold Medallist and hold his London 2012 gold medal! This was a very moving moment.

All of the children who attended has an amazing time and Brookfield might even have their very own future kayaker on their hands!

SING UP DAY DIGI CHOIR 2023

It is fantastic to hear that pupils from all over the world, including pupils from LEO, who took part in the Sing Up Day Digi Choir event! This event is a wonderful way to celebrate the power of music and singing, and to bring people together from all different backgrounds.

The Sing Up Day Digi Choir is a virtual choir that is created by compiling videos of people singing from all over the world. This year's Sing Up Day anthem was "Blossom out", a song by Tomuri Spicer that celebrates the earth and our connection to the natural world around us.

I am sure that the Sing Up Day Digi Choir event was a wonderful experience for all involved. It is a great opportunity for pupils to share their love of singing with others, and to learn about different cultures and traditions from around the world.

RIGHTS RESPECTING SCHOOLS - UNICEF

PARKING

Please be considerate if you are driving to drop off/collect your child from school. Unfortunately a small number of people are parking dangerously and inconsiderately on Ridge Road, Beeches Road and the surrounding areas.

As we are an eco school, I would like to encourage parents and pupils to use more sustainable modes of travel to get to school where this is possible. I do understand that parents or carers will sometimes need to drive their children to school, however, I would urge where possible for parents/guardians to park away from the school and then walk in.

Please could you think of the safety of ALL our children and refrain from parking across residents driveways as this is an offence which could also result in a Penalty Charge Notice.

SCHOOL CROSSING PATROL OFFICER

Over the summer Sutton Council have been working hard to find a new School Crossing Patrol officer (lollipop person) for Brookfield. but unfortunately they still haven't found the right candidate. If you know someone who may be interested in this role please share this link with them SCP officer Brookfield School Sutton

Twitter and Facebook

Please follow @BrookfieldSM3 and @LEOacademies on Twitter and Facebook to be kept up-to-date with all of the exciting activities, learning and events that the children are participating in.

Twitter/Facebook are also the only form of communication shared by  the staff when the KS2 children are away on residential trips - seeing how much fun the children are having makes missing them not quite so bad, the children definitely do not look like they are missing home!

Please note that we only share photos of children who have photo permission and we only ever use their first name.  Also, we do not keep the photos that we share so if you see a photo of your child that you would like you can save these onto your own device by clicking on the 3 dots on the photo and selecting save.   Also if you see a post that interests you, please can we ask you to share/retweet.

If you would like your child to be included in our social media posts, please ensure that you have consented to social media.  If you are unsure please look at your child's profile on the Arbor app and contact the school office if you wish to make a change.
